Electroless Nickel Phosphorous Plating
NIBORE®
NIBORE®is engineered for a superior lubricity, abrasion and corrosion protection synergy. This unique process is formulated to produce a uniformly dispersed boron nitride deposit. This is an electroless nickel phosphorous coating that incorporates boron nitride particles in a co-deposited nickel matrix.
NIBORE® coating boasts a 54 RC hardness, which can be increased to 67 RC after heat treating. The additional hardness adds to the unique capabilities of this coating treatment.
The extremely low coefficient of friction has proven very valuable in high abrasion and wear applications where lubricity and release and galling are an issue. This coating has a melting point of 1650°F (899°C) and a working temperature of 1250°F (677°C) and will perform in the most extreme applications.
NIBORE® Coating Benefits Include:
- A 54 Rockwell hardness rating or 67 Rockwell hardness rating after 550°F (288°C) heat treatment. That compares with 45 RC for nickel/PTFE and 72 RC for hard chrome.
- Application of up to a 0.0005” deposit.
- Easily stripped, leaving no damage to the base material.
- A coefficient of friction of 0.05, much lower than that of nickel/PTFE, titanium nitride (TiN), and most other mold coatings.
- The coating withstands up to 1250°F (677°C), well above the 550°F (288°C) range for PTFE coatings.
